But don’t limit yourself to commuting on this bike. ![]() Cushy tires, a riser stem, and a swept-back handlebar, complete with a cup holder large enough for a Slurpee, complete this leisurely commuter rig. But on a 400 dollar bike, they fit the bill perfectly. Tektro rim brakes get the job done, although not as well as disc brakes. Trevor Raabįront and rear fenders are de rigueur for commuter bikes, and the Bistro’s rear rack, painted to match the frame, adds form and function. Pannier rack and fenders painted to match look really slick. You’ll feel like the king of the road as you saunter down the street riding the Lincoln Town Car of bikes. The cushy, spring-supported leather-like saddle is soft and wide, and matching, stitched grips add a touch of old-school elegance. What you get is a cheap, functional bike that’s suitable for casual pleasure cruises and leisurely jaunts around town. Nor will you find an integrated lock or lights. You won’t find expensive, specialty parts, a high-tech drivetrain, or disc brakes on this bike. The Motobecane Bistro 7v is a throwback bike, a traditional old-school commuter with an upright riding position and a decidedly casual attitude. ![]()
